Thank you to the WSD Board of Trustees!

Governor Rick Perry proclaimed January 2009 as School Board Recognition Month to help build awareness of the crucial role school trustees play in our state, communities and schools. The Windham School District thanks the Texas Board of Criminal Justice for serving year round as its School Board. These nine governor-appointed volunteers manage the responsibilities of running one of the largest - and most unique -- school districts in the state of Texas! This board defines policy, sets budgets, and works to ensure academic excellence and accountability for Windham schools throughout the state. Together they tackle the enormous job of governing our school district.

WSD's Trustees may be found individually speaking at weekend graduation ceremonies in the prisons, addressing staff development meetings, visiting WSD classrooms behind bars, and helping inform Texas lawmakers about correctional education. Our trustees personally encourage educators and students to reach their goals, and their support is invaluable. The energy, expertise, hard work and enthusiasm of this Board of Trustees are invaluable to Windham's efforts to reduce recidivism.
