EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Bachelor's or Master's degree from a college
or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for
Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Major coursework in accounting,
business administration or related field is required. Five years of
full-time wage-earning experience in finance is required. Five years of
experience in a leadership/supervisory role is required. Full-time work
experience with Windham School District (WSD) and/or Texas Department of
Criminal Justice (TDCJ) is preferred or experience in school business management
and/or public organization is preferred.
PARTIAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Keep the
Superintendent informed on the business affairs of the district.
Administer accounting procedures, systems, and controls in accordance
with Texas Education Agency (TEA), TDCJ and professionally accepted standards.
Supervise the WSD payroll function in coordination with the TDCJ
and the WSD Human Resources Department to ensure timely payments for earned
wages. Oversee the requisitioning, purchasing and payment of supplies and
equipment for WSD programs in coordination with WSD Administrators and the
TDCJ. Maintain accurate and current computerized inventory records of the
district's fixed and movable assets. Prepare district annual budget to
ensure that financial resources are adequately and efficiently provided to
support the district mission and goals. Work with district administrators
to project student enrollments, staffing needs, capital equipment needs, and
other cost items for district and individual school improvement.
