EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:  High school diploma from an accredited high school or hold GED and must possess a Level I, II or III Interpreter certificate.

Level I (P7/$1,835/MTH), Level II (P9/$2,064/MTH) or Level III (P11/$2,336/MTH)

PARTIAL SUMMARY OF THE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  Releases the teacher from routine tasks and participates in selecting, planning, organizing, and evaluating as requested.  Provides assistance to teacher in preparing and using instructional materials.  Assists and scores Objective Measurement Instruments, and Testing Routines.  Prepares instructional aids including displays and mock-ups.  Works with individual students in drills and exercises.  Interprets for deaf offenders during instructional activities in the classroom and during testing situations.  Interprets for deaf offenders during Admission, Review and Dismissal Committee Meetings.  Serves as an interpreter to assist deaf offenders in obtaining other services within the TDCJ.

*All applicants without a State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) issued Paraprofessional or Educational Aide Certificate must obtain the appropriate certificate from the SBEC, if selected for the position.  A fee of $30, made payable to the SBEC, is required and must be paid by the applicant on the date the applicant is hired.*
