DIAGNOSTICIAN MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
:  Master's degree and the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) Educational Diagnostician certificate or be eligible for permit, OR Master's degree and Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists, Licensed Specialist in School Psychology (LSSP) credential.

To be eligible for emergency permit for Educational Diagnostician an individual must be (1)  currently certified based on a Bachelor's degree,  (2)  have thirty (30) semester hours of graduate-level credit in the field in education or a related field, including six semester hours in tests and measurements, at least three of which emphasize individualized testing,  (3)  have completed six semester hours directly related to teaching individuals with special learning needs; and (4) have three creditable years of teaching experience, (PK-12).

All applicants not certified must submit a worksheet/deficiency plan stating the courses needed for certification, from the college/university to attend with application, by the application deadline.

PARTIAL LIST OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
:  Receives student referrals and implements the appraisal process.  Selects and administers formal and informal assessments to determine student eligibility for Special Education services according to Federal and Texas Education Agency regulations.  Conducts classroom observations and personal interviews.  Participates in the Admissions, Review and Dismissal (ARD) Committee to assist with interpretation of assessment data, appropriate placement and the development of Individual Education Plan (IEP) for students according to District procedures. Assists classroom teachers with implementation of IEP.  Assists in the selection of assessment materials and equipment.  Provides staff development training in assigned units to assist unit personnel with identification and understanding of students with emotional, social, and behavioral disturbances.
