EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING: Bachelor's Degree from a college or university accredited by an organization recognized by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Major course work in Criminal Justice, Business Administration, Education, or a related field preferred. Three years full-time, wage-earning experience.
PARTIAL SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Performs complex academic and vocational administrative support and technical program assistance work for the re-integration for offenders "Project Rio" program. Work involves assisting in the technical support of the operations of the program; providing liaison with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) and Windham School District (WSD) educational personnel for appropriate vocational evaluation; and recommending placement of eligible offenders; and training and supervising the work of others. Works under limited supervision with considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. Assists in the implementation of Texas Workforce Commission (TWC) criteria for the identification of eligible offenders; develops program policies and procedures, and prepares, interprets, and disseminates information on programs and procedures. Prepares comprehensive written plans to remove deficiencies that may prevent an offender from obtaining employment; develops and maintains comprehensive records on participants; and administers academic achievement tests, occupational aptitude and interest tests, and other tests and instruments designed to indicate current occupational skills to offenders.
