Graduation speaker Sen. Charles Perry recently inspired WSD students and their visiting families at a Roach Unit commencement ceremony in Childress. He addressed graduates who had completed their High School Equivalency certificates (HSEC) and presented each one with a leather bound copy of the book "Jesus Calling".

Roach Unit Principal Erika Moore had high praise for the event.

"Our students wore graduation caps and gowns for the first time at this particular occasion, adding even more pride to the ceremony," she said. "Our staff raised all of the money to purchase these caps and gowns, and we are proud of this accomplishment. For the first time ever, this ceremony was held in our horticulture classroom. Instructor Teddy Gilliam and his students did an amazing job of transforming the classroom into a beautiful exhibit of plants and flowers grown by the class. We are very appreciative of the time and remarks shared by Sen. Perry. We all worked as a team to make graduation a very special event for our students."
