Windham School District honors professional counselors

Message from WSD Superintendent Dr. Clint Carpenter:

Windham School District honors professional counselorsEach year in February we proudly honor The Windham School District’s professional counseling staff, an integral part of correctional education success!

All public school counselors provide guidance to students while working with teachers and administrators, but Windham counselors perform their jobs within the challenging environment of the Texas prison system. By promoting the best interests of students, our counselors help transform lives and reduce recidivism.

WSD counselors assist in the placement of offenders in appropriate education programs, coordinate unit testing programs, provide group and classroom counseling, and assist teachers in working with student behavior problems. They help students experience academic achievement, develop self-confidence, and prepare for successful careers and lives after release.

The dedication and professionalism of Windham counselors are an essential element in the successful operation of Windham schools. We thank our counselors for their daily contributions as part of the WSD.

Please remember to tell them thank you for a job well done!
