Campbell Concrete visits Polunksy Unit, tours Windham School District CTE programs

 Campbell Concrete visits Polunksy Unit

Campbell Concrete of Houston recently toured the Windham School District Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs at the Polunsky Unit in Livingston. TDCJ’s Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Logistics Division also participated, offering information on ways WSD and TDCJ partner to prepare offenders for future employment. Department Manager Sharon Albert of the Offender Work and Training Programs assisted the group in observing OJT training.

"It is essential for Windham to have companies come and tour TDCJ facilities so we can all know what careers are viable for students upon release," said WSD Superintendent Dr. Clint Carpenter. "We appreciate Campbell Concrete for making time to meet our teachers and students while learning about our programs. Their input is invaluable."

WSD's Workforce and CTE departments work to ensure that teachers and programs are in alignment with free world standards. WSD also strives to make sure students have the knowledge and experience required to be competitive in career fields after release. This includes training in skills needed to compete successfully in the interview process.

"Our goal is to give our students the advantage in today's job market," Carpenter said.
