The ECHO Newspaper is the resident newspaper that is distributed to all Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) residents, TDCJ departments and various external stakeholders, including community subscribers. The ECHO is supervised by a managing editor, published 10 times a year and is regulated by the district through a memorandum of understanding with TDCJ. The ECHO publications have been printed since 1928. In July 2023, The ECHO took a huge leap and developed a revised, modern format in order to provide the residents digital viewing option on their tablets, in addition to the printed newspaper. The new digital format of The ECHO publications will be uploaded for viewing on the Windham website.
You can subscribe to receive an annual subscription to the paper copy of the ECHO newspaper for $12. To subscribe for a paper copy, please send a money order or personal check to the address below. Checks are to be made out to the ECHO/WSD.
