City of Houston Declares Windham School District Day
To celebrate Windham School District's (WSD) commitment to transforming lives through education, the Mayor of the City of Houston, Sylvester Turner, declared March 1, 2021 as Windham School District Day.
In his proclamation, Turner commended WSD for "helping students acquire valuable academic, technical and employment skills so they can become contributing members of society."
The proclamation also highlighted the district's ongoing partnerships with Houston businesses to review Career and Technical Education curriculum to ensure students are learning skills needed by employers to be successful in the workforce upon their release.
WSD Superintendent Kristina J. Hartman thanked Turner for honoring the district and its success.
"This is a special day for Windham and we thank Mayor Turner for his recognition of our district, our employees and our accomplishments," Hartman said. "Windham is committed to educating students and equipping them with the skills needed to re-enter the Texas workforce."
