The Right to a Free Appropriate Public Education
The Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA-B) enables all students with a disability the right to receive a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) according to 34 C.F.R. Part 300; 19 T.A.C. Chapters 75, 89.
Windham utilizes multiple levels of Child Find processes to identify students within the district who meet eligibility requirements for special education services.
The Special Education program provides services as detailed in each student’s individual education plan (IEP) for eligible students who are under the age of 22
Inclusion and Support
The district provides a continuum of instructional, transitional and social-emotional services through inclusion support within the general education classes.
Individualized accommodations are provided through direct and indirect support, tutoring and other supplemental services.
Specially design instruction and related services are provided for students eligible to receive special education services.
