Family Educational Rights Privacy Act (Student Records Requests)

Pursuant to 20 U.S.C. Section 1232g:

The Windham School District Superintendent has designated the Windham Assessment, Advisement & Records Department as an alternate recipient of FACSIMILE requests under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). Email requests shall be accepted only if a signed release is scanned and emailed as an attachment, as FERPA allows the release of educational records only through a signed request or in response to a subpoena. For requests of student records, the address, email address and facsimile number of the Windham Assessment, Advisement & Records Department:

The Office of the General Counsel receives requests for public information. A person may submit a written request for public information only by one of the following methods:

A request must include:

1) requestor’s name

2) requestor’s email address or mailing address

3) a detailed description of the requested information

If a requestor provides an email address, Windham will use that email address for communication related to the request and to provide requested information, unless requestor specifies another method.

Subpoenas

Subpoenas for education records of current or former Windham students should be directed to the Education Records Department via email at records@wsdtx.org or by mail at the following address:
